Short trips near Alicante

Boat Trip/Island of Tabarca

Tabarca is located in the Mediterranean Sea, close to the city of Alicante, and it is the only inhabited islet in the region. There you will find coves and beaches of crystal-clear waters, which were officially declared a Marine reserve. It is worth taking a walk through the town, which is considered to be of great cultural and architectural interest, and enjoying its excellent restaurants.

Going deeper into the province

We suggest a two-hour tour around Gallinera, Vall d’Alcalá and Vall d’Ebo, small villages in which you will enjoy wonderful sights.

Jijona and the ‘turrón’

Jijona, located 28 from km from Alicante, is famous for the Spanish soft nougat known as ‘turrón de Jijona’. Next to this town, you will find a truly wonder of nature: the Caves of Canelobre.

Elche

A few kilometres from Alicante, you will find the city of Elche, famous for the Palmeral – a palm grove of over a million palm trees -, that was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the Mistery Play of Elche, a sacral-lyrical medieval drama that is played in the Basílica de Santa María and was also declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Orihuela

Orihuela is the town of Alicante with the most significant artistic patrimony. Entering the town and walking through the San Antón palm grove, you will find up to five must-see National Monuments.

Benidorm

Less than 40 minutes away from Alicante, you can make out the impressive skyline of Benidorm, the first Mediterranean tourist enclave. The city of Benidorm is famous by its wide beaches – Levante and Poniente -, and its theme parks (Terra Mítica), and it boasts a wide range of leisure and entertainment options.

Altea and the North

Altea is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in the region. The old quarter, full of whitewashed buildings, is well worth a visit. Heading north, and leaving the Mascarat ravine and the Bernia mountains behind, you will find the most symbolic landscape of the Costa Blanca: the Peñón de Ifach at Calpe, a Gibraltar-style rock which rises from the sea to a height of 332 m.

Guadalest

This small village of only 200 inhabitants is located in a beautiful valley and it is surrounded by the highest mountains in the area. A must-see place.
